Photos: New Sport Introduced As Nigerian Water Ski And Wakeboard Federation Board Council Inaugurated!

History was made yesterday in the Nigeria's  sporting sector as a new form of sport
was introduced with the inauguration of its board members and ex-officio special council.

The very unique activity, Nigeria Water Ski and Wakeboard  Sport was introduced by famous TV personality and multi-award winner Amb. Rachel Bakam, a producer and presenter of a highly rated tv programs Trends and Rachel. 
She attracted this laudable project to Nigeria with the influence of Mr Uwe Goldstein, the world Chairman Cable Water ski and Wakeboard Development Commitee 
The inauguration ceremony which was held at the media hall of the national stadium, Abuja attracted several personalities and high profile media organizations. The event was hosted  by the Honourable Minister of Sports and Chairman National Sports Council, Dr Tamuno W. Danagogo, a man who saddled the belief/passion in this vision on his shoulder inaugurated the interim board members and ex-officio council saddled with the responsibility to champion the grassroot development and technical orientation of the new sport in Nigeria
The minister Dr. Danagogo while speaking expressed his happiness for the development and ascribed it as the desire of the Federal government to ensure that Nigeria is a multi-sporting nation beside the football that all are use to. He further stressed that "the focus of the ministry of sport is to see how to make sport a way of life in Nigeria"  and that the government through his office is doing everything possible to open the sporting industry in Nigeria, and to achieve this, his administration is working to ensure that the recommendation of the national sport summit held in 2014 is to encourage private Nigerians to develop interest in sport activities and working tirelessly to achieve Mr. President's aspiration, which is to transform Nigeria sport industry by engaging all hands on deck. He congratulated the new board and ensured them of confirming them as members of National Olympic committee and Nation sports commission after undergoing some processes.
The President of the newly established Nigerian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation, Amb. Rachel Bakam commended the minister for his simplicity and warm reception during their first meeting over the project, and reiterated her commitment to make this project a success in Nigeria as well as establish avenue for sponsors and investors to key into this sport project that will give a lot of Nigerian youths overwhelming opportunities for national honours and international recognitions.
According to her "my spirit is high and people are excited about this though initially some see it as alien sport but we will ensure it becomes a household vocational activity where one can have it even at his own back yard" Its worthy to note that Nigeria is the second country in
Africa to have Water Ski and Wakeboard Sport after South Africa and we look forward to train sport men and women and sponsor them for an international contest maybe In South Africa for a start where  the sport is already embraced. 
Giving the vote of thanks Mr. Uwe Goldstein expressed satisfaction over his visit as he considered it a worthwhile venture especially with the positives from the sport minister and prospects from Rachel Bakam and her team's commitment. He further made an impressive offer to sponsor Nigerians to the next World Water Ski and Wakeboard sport which will be held in mexico come 2016
